Twin Myths & Legends

Shaman's Shrine of the Sacred Twins
From a Siberian "Saman" Legend
By David Chethlahe Paladin

About the above painting: In the beginning the male and female gods gave birth to three sets of twins.  Two were masked beings.  Two were animals.  Two were Kiatsika, or spirit dancers.  The sacred nature of the twin spirits guaranteed that all beings that followed would be infused with the dual nature of these beings and would express both the positive and negative energies so that all of creation could gain knowledge.  This would not be possible if only one of the "spirits" or energies existed within the "breath" or soul of the "Kivati" or consciousness of all matter.
