These links focus on classical shamanism or very closely related subjects. We can't judge the quality of New Age or related pages, therefore we have instituted a policy of not linking to any that are heavily New Age, Neo-Pagan or Neo-Wiccan on this page.

The Three Worlds Website
Excellent articles from an Irish perspective on shamanism by another friend of ours.
The Foundation for Shamanic Studies
Michael Harner's influential organization. Offers supplies, samples of drum and rattle recordings as well as workshop information.

Host to the older editions of Spirit Talk (an excellent quarterly newsletter) various other articles of interest, and information on the London Open Drumming Group.

The latest high-quality editions of Karen Kelly's Core Shamanic newsletter, Spirit Talk. Be sure to check out the back editions too.

Looking for a shamanic circle or considering starting one? The home page of TENDING SACRED CIRCLES provides networking and informational resources.
ShamanSouth
Self described as a voluntary information clearinghouse for shamanic tools, techniques, training, and shaman-led travel opportunities world-wide. I'd class them as Neo-shamanic, with emphasis on Harner related materials. A lot of good general information.

Historical/Scholarly Approaches:

Shamanic Dimensions Network
The work of the late Michael Ripinsky-Naxon, and self-described as "The Premier Site for Ethno-Shamanism" -- not an exageration.
Sacred Texts: Shamanism
Online library of historical sources, several of which are listed in Eliade's bibliography.
Folklore
Online newsletter focussing on articles about shamanism, urban legends, ethnomusicology, pareomiology, popular calendar data and folk belief.

Miscellaneous Shamanic Resources:

Spiritual Emergence Network
Information, referrals, and support for individuals experiencing difficulty with their psychospiritual growth.
Tree of Life
Articles by Dutch practioner Daan Van Kampenhout. Especially intersting is his article on shamanic costumes.

Golomt Center for Shamanist Studies -- Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
An in-depth site on contemporary and historical Siberian shamanism.
The Buryat Home Page
Shamanism, Folklore, and Poetry; visions from the land of Baikal and the Sayan Mountains. Provides important cultural context for the Golomt site mentioned above.

Nordic Shamanism:

SCANDINAVIAN CENTER FOR SHAMANIC STUDIES
Jonathan Horwitz and Annette Høst. Articles on contemporary and Nordic shamanic practices, as well as a calendar of courses available in Europe and Denmark.
The Seidhman Rants
Wonderful grumpy and informative rants from an American Asatru Seidhman -definitely worth a read.

Sacharuna
Offers online workshops, videos, and supplies, as well as an online library of scholarly articles.

African Diasporic Traditions:

Note: There is some debate as to whether these religions should properly be classified as "shamanic", but no doubt that they are ecstatic. Studying them reveals deep insights on the nature of shamanic ecstasy and Spirits.

The VODOU Page
Mambo Racine Sans Bout explains the ecstatic religion of Haitian Vodou.
OrishaNet
Information on Santeria, another ecstatic religion with African roots.
