Felletin is a sleepy little town in the heartland of France. The houses are constructed of native granite which weathers to a quaint elegance. The tower here is the only one remaining from the original town wall. The wall once had 21 towers like this one.
We drove into Felletin on Friday morning to the town market. Booths and tents were set up along the main streets. Here you can purchase anything from food to kitchen utensils to clothing. Farmers bring in their home grown produce. Butchers sell freshly plucked chickens and ducks, sausages by the link and more. If you like you can purchase live poltury or goats. One of the most popular booths is that of the cheese seller, for cheese is a mainstay of the French dinner table. But it is more than just a chance to restock the larder, it is a time for friends and neighbors of get together and share the news of the week.
